A loft conversion turns unused loft space in your home into a functional living area, such as a guest bedroom, workspace, or even a home library or a playroom. It’s a great way to expand your home’s living space without the hassle of moving.

The cost is determined by the size of the loft, the type of conversion, required structural reinforcements and the finishes chosen, Additional elements, like en-suites or skylights, can also influence the total cost.

In Shepherd’s Bush, most loft conversion types don’t need planning permission under permitted development. However, properties in conservation areas or larger projects with more complex changes may need approval. Our team will help you navigate this entire process.

There are many different types of loft conversions. Some of the popular ones include;

Velux – Installing Velux windows in the loft space without making any structural changes.

Dormer – Adds additional headroom and usable space by extending outwards from the roof.

Hip-to-gable – Ideal for semi-detached or end-terrace properties, converting a sloped roof into a vertical wall.

Mansard – A stylish option that alters the roof structure to create maximum space and headroom.

It normally takes approx. 8-10 weeks to complete a loft conversion depending on the type and size.

Not at all. The old water tank can be decommissioned by our qualified plumbers. Chimneys can either be boarded out or removed to create more floor space, depending on your requirements.

You can easily check this if you have a loft access hatch and ladder. Try and measure the distance from the top of your first-floor ceiling joists to the underside of loft ridge timber. You need a minimum 2.5M to achieve the floor-to-ceiling height of 2M which is the minimum requirement. If your loft height falls short of 2.5M, you may need to drop the first-floor ceilings to achieve minimum height.
